Toronto Chung Wah Chinese School

The West meets the East here.

Toronto Chung Wah Chinese School was founded in 1984 in downtown Toronto. In 1987, the Scarborough Campus was established. In 1988, it was granted the status of charity organization by the federal government. Our Mission is to promote Chinese and Western cultures and to develop students of excellence with virtue, wisdom and team spirit. Our Teaching Faculty members are experienced registered teachers from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as well as licensed teachers in Ontario. They have received teacher training and are recognized by the Toronto School Board as teachers of Chinese language. Learning & Developmental Activities: The School puts most emphasis on academic teaching but also recognizes the importance of inquiry-based learning. The School uses the Chinese language teaching materials from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and adapted with local examples to suit the practical needs. The School also offers Math, Arts, French and English classes from kindergarten to grade 11 for strengthening the students’ learning foundation. The School and the Parents Committee organize developmental and cultural events jointly such as books fair, Christmas party, Chinese New Year celebration and lion dance, etc. Students are also encouraged to take part in Chinese language and arts open competitions, and have consistently achieved great results.

Over the last 35 years, we thank you for the support from community leaders and the Board of Directors contributing their time and resources to promote our Chinese heritage and culture and cultivate students of excellence with virtue, wisdom and team spirit. We also strive to educate our students in moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic aspects to be future community leaders. As in our School hymn” Overseas Chinese rooted in China, Systematic teaching and Dynamic learning “. In 2002, a second campus in Scarborough was established. With the co-ordination of the Board, principals and teachers, we put more emphasis on academic teaching but also recognize the importance of learning from other activities. The school opens adult speaking English and Mandarin classes, organizes extracurricular activities and holds events jointly with Parents Association. Our mission is to inspire lifelong learners with transferable skills. With the guidance of the Board of Directors, we look forward for your continuous supports and donations to our education foundation.
